What is an MVV?
An MVV is an entry visa for a longer stay. For the standard partner route, the MVV and residence permit are applied for together. The IND decides on your application.
What should you check first?
Use the IND partner page as your starting point.
- Your relationship and the route that applies to you.
- Passports, age and plans to live at the same address.
- The sponsor’s current income requirements.
- Whether the exam abroad is required or an exemption applies.
- Documents, legalisation and translations required for your application.
Put the exam and application on one timeline
When the exam is required, it comes before the MVV application. The pass result is valid for 1 year. Do not choose an exam date without considering document readiness.
Who does what?
Rachel teaches Dutch and helps you understand the public information. You and your partner prepare the application. A qualified immigration lawyer should assess legal complications.
ONE SMALL NEXT STEP
You don’t need every answer to start learning.
Make a short list of your questions. Then separate your learning goals from anything that needs legal advice.
